Wu Blockchain has learned that Safe's early investor, Greenfield Capital, has issued an open letter stating that it has filed a regulatory complaint with the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority (ESA) regarding governance issues within the Safe Ecosystem Foundation. Greenfield alleges that after the February 2025 Bybit hack, Safe Foundation directors and Gnosis co-founders Stefan George and Martin Köppelmann demanded that other Safe directors and co-founders hand over a significant amount of SAFE tokens. They allegedly threatened to sell Gnosis's entire SAFE holdings, which accounted for approximately 10% of the total SAFE supply, and publicly sever ties with Safe. The involved parties ultimately complied with the demands, leading to a redistribution of tokens. Greenfield claims this incident has been confirmed by multiple sources.
Greenfield also accuses the Safe Foundation board of lacking independence and having conflicts of interest, including Stefan George's affiliation with Gnosis, which previously operated a wallet product directly competing with Safe{Wallet}. Greenfield had previously requested the replacement of Stefan George and the introduction of independent external directors, but these requests were rejected by the foundation. Greenfield emphasized that this regulatory complaint is not a personal lawsuit nor an attempt to gain control of Safe. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/safe-early-investor-greenfield-files-complaint-against-foundation-director-token-coercion-69515
