[ECB Governing Council Member Sleijpen Says the Extent of Inflation Shock Remains Unclear] According to a report by Golden Finance, on June 30, European Central Bank Governing Council member Olaf Sleijpen stated that the extent of the inflation shock caused by the Iran war remains uncertain, and policymakers will take action based on subsequent data. The Dutch official, in an interview with Bloomberg TV's Francine Lacqua in Sintra, Portugal, said that although energy costs have already declined, uncertainty still persists. The ECB is holding its annual forum locally. 'From an inflation perspective, the drop in oil prices is certainly good news,' he said on Tuesday. 'But what will happen in the future remains to be seen.' Policymakers are studying how U.S.-Iran peace talks and the decline in energy prices will impact eurozone inflation. The ECB raised interest rates this month for the first time since 2023, and the market expects another 25 basis point hike by the end of the year.
