**[CoreWeave Seeks Insurance Funds to Support AI Expansion, Chip Financing Exceeds $35 Billion]**
Odaily Planet Daily News – CoreWeave, an AI cloud service provider backed by NVIDIA, is seeking to tap into the vast funding pools of insurance companies to reduce the financing costs associated with purchasing AI chips and building infrastructure. CoreWeave co-founder and head of financing operations, Brannin McBee, stated that if the company can secure investment-grade ratings for more chip-collateralized debt and ultimately improve its own credit rating, it could gain access to the insurance funding market. He noted that the scale of funds in the insurance industry is "almost limitless," as "all the money sitting in insurance pools is one of the largest sources of capital in the world."
Earlier this year, CoreWeave secured an $8.5 billion loan backed by NVIDIA chips and a long-term usage contract with Meta. The company's next step is to attract insurance companies to purchase loans supported by lower-credit-rated clients, such as financing related to AI labs. So far this year, the company has raised over $35 billion through chip-collateralized loans, high-yield bonds, convertible bonds, and stock issuances. As of the end of June, the company's debt and lease obligations totaled approximately $52 billion. *(Financial Times)*
