[Ethereum Scaling Accelerates: Glamsterdam Testnet Gas Limit Soars to 200 Million, Processing Capacity Tripled]
BlockBeats News, October 8: The Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade was activated this Tuesday on the Sepolia testnet, increasing the block gas limit from approximately 60 million to nearly 200 million, thereby tripling the processing capacity budget. Developers are using this opportunity to test network scaling-related changes. CoinDesk's observation of more than 25 consecutive test blocks shows that the actual gas usage ranged from about 52 million to 92 million, accounting for only 26% to 46% of the available limit, with no signs of nearing full capacity.
According to data from the testing team ethPandaOps, during a six-minute voting period conducted early Thursday, all 32 planned blocks were successfully proposed, with 99.97% of eligible testnet staking shares voting in favor of finalization. Glamsterdam also adjusts the gas costs of certain operations and optimizes transaction execution and data reading mechanisms, giving validators more time to verify transaction computations. At the same time, it allows software to prefetch accounts and storage data involved in transactions, enhancing parallel processing capabilities.
The next testnet, Hoodi, is tentatively scheduled to launch on October 27, with the exact timing dependent on the results of the Sepolia test. The Ethereum mainnet has not yet determined the upgrade date for Glamsterdam. [Original Link]
