[Lido: stETH holders do not need to take any action, affected ETH expected to gradually return to the protocol within approximately 45 days]
BlockBeats News, October 1 — Lido responded on social media to MetaMask's earlier statement regarding 'proactively exiting certain affected validators to ensure the security of non-custodial staking operations,' stating that stETH holders do not need to take any action. The ETH exiting from validators operated by MetaMask Staking is expected to gradually return to the protocol as the relevant validators complete their exit, withdrawal, and re-entry cycles. Due to the lengthy queue, this process is estimated to take up to 45 days. Lido's diversified node operator network and other security systems, including a temporary reserve fund (over 6,750 stETH), are designed to mitigate and minimize disruptions to the protocol's normal operations and provide alternative response measures. BlockBeats previously reported that MetaMask stated it is addressing a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure. As a precautionary measure, it is working with customers, partners, and security advisors to proactively exit the affected validators to ensure the safety of non-custodial staking operations.
