Back in August, I joked that tiny UK-based FCA dared to challenge Justin Sun (@justinsuntron)? Today, the FCA released an announcement confirming a settlement with Huobi Global (@HuobiGlobal). I read the original announcement, and a few points are quite interesting: First, the dispute revolved entirely around Section 21 of the UK's Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, which governs financial promotional materials. From 2023, the UK will have very strict regulations on crypto advertising, prohibiting advertising to UK users without FCA authorization. Second, the settlement means HTX (@HTX_DAO) will no longer operate in the UK, new UK users cannot register or deposit funds, and Huobi has also made a commitment to the court. Furthermore, the FCA stated in the announcement that this settlement does not equate to Huobi admitting responsibility or wrongdoing, and the settlement terms are confidential. I'd like to secretly ask Justin Sun how much he paid this time? So my understanding is simple: Huobi's withdrawal from the UK market settled a year-long legal battle, and it continues to operate normally outside the UK, which can be considered a dignified end to the dispute.
