The pending buyback funds for pons have been misreported as $2.3M in several posts in the English community. This figure is incorrect. The actual pending buyback funds are not that high.
Their calculation method for pons' pending buyback funds is: the remaining amount in the buyback distributor + the unclaimed amount in escrow. According to data from the pons official website, this figure has now risen to approximately $2.6M, with $420K remaining in the buyback distributor and $2.17M unclaimed in escrow.
However, the $2.17M in escrow includes two parts: the portion not yet claimed by creators and the portion retained by the pons protocol. Therefore, you need to subtract the creators' share and the protocol's 20% reserve to get the actual funds available for buyback.
The data on the pons terminal website shows the pending buyback funds as 528.6 ETH, approximately $1.47M, which is relatively accurate. This means that the unclaimed funds in escrow available for buyback are only $1.47M - $420K = $1.05M.
One thing is clear though: PONS' buyback funds are steadily accumulating, waiting for the team to multi-sign and claim them before transferring them to the buyback distributor.
