The creator of the once-viral Checks project is back with a new concept.
All you need to do is use X's built-in payment feature, X Money, to send him $8 and include your ETH address in the payment note. That transaction ID will then qualify you to receive an artwork from this project.
Because X Money's fiat payment feature currently requires sending to a verified U.S.-based X user, it has unintentionally become a new anti-sybil mechanism.
Plus, the entire participation process happens within X, not on-chain via a contract. This essentially ties social payments, fiat transfers, ETH addresses, and generative art seeds into a single transaction.
Back in the day, his Checks project was also open for $8, and within 24 hours, around 16,000 pieces were claimed. Later, the secondary market price shot up to over $100 at one point.
If this model really takes off, we can expect many project teams to follow suit—linking X Money payments with crowdfunding mechanics for X users. And those who successfully pay via X Money will likely engage further by sharing and interacting.
