Report: Stablecoins transfer an average of over $400 million per hour, with 73% of transactions occurring outside of US banking hours
According to BlockBeats, on October 20th, Coinbase released a report titled "The Always On Dollar" which stated that in the third quarter of 2026, the average hourly transfer amount for organic stablecoin transfer activities exceeded $400 million. As of July 31st in the past 12 months, approximately 73% of the screened stablecoin transfers occurred outside of US banking hours, highlighting the need for stablecoin payments 24/7. The report shows that the quarterly transfer volume after stablecoin adjustment has increased fourfold since the beginning of 2023, reaching $891 billion in the third quarter of 2026. At the current growth rate, this data is expected to reach $1.5 trillion by the end of 2027. The report also pointed out that using USDC to remit $200 through the Base network can save about 86% of costs compared to traditional payment channels. In addition, if 80% of global international transactions shift to stablecoin payment networks, the global annual GDP could increase by an additional $155 billion. Looking ahead, the report suggests that stablecoins have the potential to become an important payment infrastructure for the AI proxy economy. McKinsey predicts that by 2030, there will be $3 trillion to $5 trillion in B2C commercial transactions facilitated by AI agents worldwide. Stablecoins can support small transactions such as paying task fees, purchasing API calls, and obtaining data and computing power on demand between agents. [Original link]
