[Federal Reserve Dot Plot: 16 Officials Expect Another Rate Hike in 2026]
Odaily Planet Daily News – The Federal Reserve announced today (17th) a 25 basis point rate hike, marking the first rate increase for 2026. The latest Federal Reserve dot plot shows that 18 out of 19 officials submitted dot plot projections (consistent with June), with 16 of them believing another rate hike is necessary this year. Specifically, 4 officials believe a cumulative rate hike of 75 basis points is appropriate for 2026 (up from 1 in June), 12 officials believe a cumulative rate hike of 50 basis points is appropriate (up from 5 in June), 2 officials believe a cumulative rate hike of 25 basis points is appropriate (down from 3 in June), 0 officials believe the interest rate should remain unchanged at 3.5%-3.75% this year (down from 8 in June), and 0 officials believe a cumulative rate cut of 25 basis points is appropriate (down from 1 in June).
