CoinEx is shutting down after nearly 9 years, joining a wave of exchange closures in 2026. AscendEX went dark July 1, BitMEX closes Sept 23, and BitMart announced its own shutdown earlier this year. Founded in Dec 2017 by Haipo Yang (also behind ViaBTC), CoinEx cited the crypto market downturn, shrinking trading volume, and compliance costs that "exceeded reasonable limits."
