[BIS Paper: Verifying Official Statistics with XRP Ledger, Publishing Delay of 3 to 5 Seconds] The Bank for International Settlements (BIS), in its working paper titled *'Verifiable Official Statistics: A Blockchain-Based Approach,'* proposes recording cryptographic fingerprints of official statistical data onto the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to verify data provenance and integrity. The prototype introduced in the paper writes the hash value of each batch of datasets onto the XRPL, with publishing taking approximately 3 to 5 seconds and verification taking about 1 to 2 seconds. Under moderate batch processing, on-chain fees are negligible, and only the data fingerprints are recorded on-chain without disclosing the raw data. The paper states that this solution is currently at the proof-of-concept stage and has not yet been deployed for production or adopted as a formal decision.
