[European Central Bank: Only 0.2% of EU Businesses Accept Cryptocurrency for Online Payments, Cash Still Dominates with a 92% Share]
(According to Bitcoin.com) The latest corporate cash usage survey by the European Central Bank reveals that only 0.2% of surveyed businesses in the EU accept cryptocurrencies or stablecoins as an online payment method, while the acceptance rate at physical points of sale is just 1%, significantly lower than levels in emerging markets. The survey, which covered all 8,205 businesses in the Eurozone, shows that cash remains the most mainstream payment method in Europe, with 92% of physical points of sale accepting cash. Bank cards follow closely at 88%, and mobile payment acceptance is projected to rise from 36% in 2024 to 68% in 2026. The European Central Bank emphasized that the process of payment automation should not undermine the status of cash as a viable payment option.
