Coinbase is planning to migrate its international perpetual trading infrastructure to Deribit on September 9, 2026, allowing eligible Coinbase users to directly trade crypto options like BTC and ETH. Coinbase officially stated that this integration will bring deeper liquidity, a higher-performance matching engine, and a more comprehensive derivatives system. Deribit is one of Coinbase's most significant acquisitions in recent years, advancing its Everything Exchange strategy. After the integration, it will cover spot, perpetual, options, and all other products, unifying liquidity and risk systems—essentially competing for users' trading entry points. For those of us who frequently use Deribit's products, we know that its options liquidity is a major advantage, but other trading products have been a weakness. This integration is expected to effectively address that issue. Plus, under the current policy, the zero-fee promotion for spot trading will continue for a while. With the exchange liquidity merging, this could present a solid arbitrage opportunity.
