The first privacy coin spot ETF in North America is here!
Grayscale Zcash Spot ETF (ZCSH) officially started trading on NYSE Arca on August 25!
Privacy coins have long been seen as a “taboo” by regulators, but Grayscale has successfully broken through—after strictly meeting anti-money laundering (AML) and KYC requirements, they’ve managed to bring ZEC into the compliance channels of traditional finance.
What’s even crazier: just before the listing, Zcash revealed a privacy vulnerability, and the market was bearish. Yet Grayscale didn’t change its plans and launched right on schedule. This is essentially putting real money behind the project as an endorsement—acknowledging its ability to fix issues and its long-term value.
What does this mean?
✅ Pension funds, endowment funds, and other traditional institutions can finally allocate ZEC in a compliant way
✅ Secondary market trading on the NYSE, with more transparent price discovery and better liquidity
✅ Opens up a “compliance imagination space” for other privacy coins
In short:
This isn’t just an ordinary ETF—it’s a milestone for privacy-focused assets entering the mainstream financial system.
Institutions don’t need to touch wallets or manage private keys; they can buy ZEC directly through brokers.
From today, the story of privacy coins has gained a whole new narrative—compliance.
