[SemiAnalysis: SpaceX Could Add Over 10GW of Computing Power by 2027, Annual Recurring Revenue Expected to Reach $300 Billion]
BlockBeats News, August 10: According to the latest report from SemiAnalysis, after evaluating all suitable SpaceX sites and available gas-fired power generation equipment, the agency believes that SpaceX's goal of adding over 10GW of computing power by the end of 2027 is feasible. Previously, Elon Musk stated during SpaceX's first earnings release that the company's "conservative" target is to build and deliver 6 to 8GW of incremental computing power in 2027, with potential upside exceeding 10GW. Based on a capital expenditure of approximately $50 billion per GW, the corresponding capital expenditure for 2027 could reach $300 billion to $500 billion.
SemiAnalysis believes that the high profit margins of AI inference businesses are a key driver of the expanding demand for computing power. Their model shows that when OpenAI and Anthropic provide API inference services on the GB300 cluster, each GW can generate over $100 billion in annual revenue. Assuming a GPU rental price of $3 per hour, the annual cost per GW is approximately $12 billion, with inference gross margins exceeding 60%, and some flagship models surpassing 85%.
Microsoft's computing power gap could bring significant orders to SpaceX. SemiAnalysis estimates that the $250 billion infrastructure-as-a-service agreement Microsoft signed with OpenAI in October 2025 corresponds to approximately 7GW of computing power. The report also notes that Microsoft has signed over 10GW of binding contracts this year to date through leasing, self-construction, and long-term power purchase agreements. The agency believes it is "not impossible" for Microsoft to sign a computing power contract with SpaceX for approximately 3GW, valued at around $150 billion. One reason is that SpaceX can offer a 90-day cancellation clause, reducing Microsoft's financial risk.
The report also highlights SpaceX's advantage in rapidly building computing infrastructure. For example, the 300MW Colossus 1 facility was completed in 122 days, and the capacity of the Southaven power plant expanded from approximately 495MW to 1.7GW within a few months. SemiAnalysis predicts that if half of SpaceX's additional computing power in 2027 is used for commercial inference and the other half for training by the Grok and Cursor teams, the company's annual recurring revenue could reach $300 billion by the end of 2027.
