According to CriptoNoticias, a Venezuelan lawyer used SHA-256 and OpenTimestamps in a civil lawsuit to anchor the lawsuit documents to the Bitcoin network, proving the documents' timestamp, integrity, and that they haven't been tampered with. The lawyer stated that this might be the first known case of anchoring the initial lawsuit documents themselves to Bitcoin Layer 1 in this way. The process doesn't involve writing the full legal documents onto Bitcoin but rather recording their cryptographic hash and timestamp.
