Just saw the Coldcard news
Tbh i can’t stop thinking about one question
If the people affected bought a hardware wallet, kept their BTC offline, avoided exchanges, avoided phishing, and still lost everything
What else were they supposed to do?
594 BTC ($38M) was drained from around 500 Coldcard Mk2/Mk3 wallets
If the firmware issue is confirmed, this won’t just be remembered as a hack
It’ll change how people think about self-custody
Do stories like this push more people toward ETFs and custodians
or do they simply remind us that no security model is perfect?(Justin Wu)
