[Iran Says Future Hormuz Navigation to Be Negotiated by Iran and Oman] Golden Finance reported on July 12 that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei today (July 12) provided details about the Iranian Foreign Minister's recent visit to Oman and the discussions held. On July 11, the foreign ministers of Iran and Oman held talks in Muscat, the capital of Oman, focusing on the coordination mechanism for navigation and management in the Strait of Hormuz. Legal and technical delegations from both countries participated in the discussions. Baghaei stated that the two sides exchanged views on key issues such as ensuring the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, respecting the sovereign rights of both nations, and adhering to international law. They also discussed matters related to Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. The Iranian side emphasized that future arrangements for navigation management in the Strait of Hormuz should be jointly negotiated by Iran and Oman, taking into full account the impact of recent months, particularly the military actions by the United States and Israel and their effects on the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Baghaei noted that Iran and Oman agreed to continue consultations at political, legal, and technical levels to reach a mutual understanding on ensuring the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
