Nowadays, a lot of projects are focused on hyping narratives and chasing traffic, but there aren’t many truly innovating on mechanisms anymore. Over the past few days, I’ve been diving into Mars, and my biggest takeaway is that its PoC (Proof of Contribution) is pretty interesting. PoW is all about competing with mining rigs and electricity, PoS is about staking and capital, but PoC feels more like rewarding people who genuinely participate in the system. By burning MARS to gain permanent computing power, it converts short-term assets into long-term productivity—this design at least breaks away from the traditional PoW and PoS frameworks. What’s even more intriguing to me is the game theory behind it. The 188-day token-based ROI isn’t a simple fixed return—it changes dynamically with the network’s overall computing power and participation pace. The dual-token model and NFT invitations aren’t just about who has the most money to win; they test your understanding of the rules. I’ve always believed that a good mechanism should give an edge to those who study the rules, rather than letting the richest players always dominate. Whether Mars will succeed still needs time to prove itself, but at least it’s made me start analyzing a project’s mechanism again, instead of just staring at candlestick charts every day.
