[Traders Reduce Bets on ECB Rate Hikes, Expect Less Than 25 Basis Points Increase by Year-End]
According to a report by Golden Finance, on June 26, traders are reassessing the European Central Bank's (ECB) room for rate hikes due to the continued decline in oil prices, which reduces the risk of inflation remaining high in the long term. This marks the first time since April that the market no longer fully prices in the expectation that the ECB will raise rates by another 25 basis points by the end of 2026, bringing the key rate to 2.5%. Just two weeks ago, before the ECB raised the deposit rate to 2.25%, the market had fully absorbed this rate hike expectation.
