[Coinbase Partners with AWS to Enable Web Publishers to Charge AI Agents via x402] According to an official announcement, Coinbase has partnered with AWS CloudFront and WAF to allow web publishers and API providers to accept AI agents as paying customers through the x402 protocol. Approximately a quarter of the internet runs on AWS CloudFront, and starting today, these websites can enable x402 through existing AWS configurations, enabling AI agents to pay for content on demand. When an AI agent requests content, the server returns an HTTP 402 status code along with a payment requirement. After the payment is processed and verified via Coinbase's x402 Facilitator, the content is delivered, all within a single request cycle.
