[European Central Bank Announces Hike in Three Key Interest Rates, Raising Rates by 25 Basis Points]
According to reports, on June 11 local time, the European Central Bank announced an increase of 25 basis points in the eurozone's three key interest rates. The deposit facility rate, main refinancing rate, and marginal lending rate in the eurozone are now 2.25%, 2.40%, and 2.65%, respectively. Earlier this month, preliminary data released by Eurostat showed that the eurozone's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 3.2% year-on-year in May, marking the highest level since September 2023. Energy prices in the eurozone have seen year-on-year increases exceeding 10% for two consecutive months. Analysts believe that against the backdrop of rising energy prices triggered by the Middle East conflict, which has reignited inflationary pressures in the eurozone, the European Central Bank aims to curb inflation through rate hikes before cost shocks further spread to the broader economy.
