[ZachXBT: UK's sanctions on HTX involve over-enforcement, causing widespread on-chain 'contamination'] According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, the recent crypto sanctions imposed by the UK on Huobi/HTX may involve over-enforcement, leading to widespread on-chain 'contamination.' Compliance tools are marking all addresses related to HTX as high-risk, forcing investigators to largely disregard the 'sanction' label in case tracking. ZachXBT pointed out that previously sanctioned crypto platforms were often involved in a high proportion of illegal activities (such as Huione, Blender, Hydra, etc.), whereas HTX has a large number of retail users in Asia. The current approach distorts risk assessments and fails to differentiate between transactions before and after the sanctions. He also mentioned that the UK has historically performed poorly in crypto-related cases, having previously missed a major money laundering case involving approximately $1.25 billion.
