[Trump Willing to Give U.S.-Iran Negotiations 'More Time']
Odaily Planet Daily News: U.S. President Trump has convened a meeting with the national security team but has not formally decided whether to launch new military strikes against Iran. Instead, he expressed a willingness to give diplomatic negotiations 'more time.' According to a report by *The Wall Street Journal* citing multiple U.S. officials, after being briefed on the ongoing discussions regarding Iran, Trump stated that he hopes to allow 'more time' for diplomatic talks, while keeping the option of military strikes on the table should negotiations break down.
The report noted that mediators are working hard to advance diplomatic consultations. The current critical goal is not to reach a formal U.S.-Iran agreement but to first establish a memorandum of understanding or similar document to extend the ceasefire and set a framework for further negotiations. Both sides are currently at an impasse over which issues should be included in the negotiation framework and which should be left for subsequent discussions.
According to U.S. officials, if even this limited agreement cannot be reached, the U.S. and Israel may launch a short-duration military strike against Iran within days to pressure Iran into making concessions. At present, some of Trump's advisors and conservative figures still believe that a limited strike on Iran could provide the U.S. with more leverage in negotiations. (Xinhua News Agency)
