RKLB announced today that it has been awarded a $90 million contract by the Space Systems Command (SSC) of the United States Space Force to design, manufacture, integrate, and operate two geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites carrying the Heimdall Space Situation Awareness (SDA) payload.
This contract represents Rocket Lab's first satellite production project aimed at geostationary orbit, and extends its vertically integrated mission mode to new orbital regions. Rocket Lab will serve as the main contractor and end-to-end mission provider, responsible for the design and manufacturing of spacecraft, integration of Heimdall optical payloads produced internally by Rocket Lab Optical Systems, launch integration with government provided launch vehicles, and execution of in orbit missions for up to five years after satellite commissioning is completed.
Suddenly pulled back the stock price that fell yesterday due to the issuance of shares. As we discussed yesterday, issuing shares in the short term is bearish, but if this money drives the commercialization of Neutron, expands defense orders, completes high-quality mergers and acquisitions, and increases gross profit margins, then this dilution is "exchanging around 4% equity for a higher growth ceiling".
