[U.S. Department of Defense: Cost of Iran War Has Risen to Approximately $29 Billion, May Increase Further] A senior official from the U.S. Department of Defense estimates that the latest cost of the Iran war is approximately $29 billion, an increase of about $4 billion from the estimate less than two weeks ago. Acting Comptroller Jules Hurst stated during a House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on Tuesday that due to the additional operational costs of maintaining U.S. military deployments in the Middle East, as well as updated expenses for equipment repair and replacement, the total cost of the war has 'approached $29 billion.' This figure represents an increase of approximately 16% from his April 29 estimate of $25 billion during testimony before the House Armed Services Committee. Hurst also hinted that this cost figure may continue to change in the future.
