[Japan Plans to Bring Government Bonds On-Chain for 24/7 Trading] According to a report by Nikkei, multiple major banks and securities firms in Japan plan to issue Japanese government bonds as digital securities and manage them on a blockchain by 2026, enabling 24/7 trading of government bonds. Relevant institutions will introduce yen-denominated stablecoins that can circulate on the blockchain for fund settlement, aiming to reduce settlement costs, accelerate delivery speeds, and improve institutional investors' capital efficiency. The digital government bond initiative will allow bonds to circulate outside traditional market trading hours, with the related infrastructure and system design being jointly advanced by financial institutions.
