[Dan Romero Clarifies Misunderstandings About MPP Protocol, Emphasizes Multi-Chain and Multi-Payment Method Compatibility] Odaily Planet Daily News: Dan Romero posted on the X platform to clarify common misunderstandings about the Multi-Party Payment Protocol (MPP), emphasizing that MPP's design goals are simplicity, scalability, cross-chain compatibility, and eliminating reliance on a single platform or payment method. Key points include: 1. No Tempo Limitation: MPP supports any payment method, including cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies. It has already been extended to the Bitcoin Lightning Network, with a Solana extension proposal in progress. 2. Fees Are Not Fixed at 1.5%: MPP itself does not have inherent fees. Different payment methods may charge varying transaction fees, similar to existing payment systems. 3. Openness: From Day 1, MPP supports four payment methods: Tempo (stablecoins), Stripe (multi-payment methods), Visa (credit cards), and Lightspark (Bitcoin Lightning Network). Any party can quickly expand its use, and it has been submitted to the IETF to become a web standard. 4. Not Limited to Session-Based Payments: MPP supports both request-based payments and session-based payments (payment channels). The latter is suitable for multiple small consecutive payments, reducing API round trips and improving speed. 5. Not Designed Solely for Tempo/Stripe: MPP's structure is simple and easily extensible, without reliance on specific smart wallets, stablecoins, or blockchains. It achieves secure HTTP communication and separates payment channels, enabling rapid integration with Visa and Lightspark.
