The crypto world has a new buzzword: DeCeFi. The core idea can be summed up in one sentence: enabling any smart contract on any chain to directly access Binance-level trade execution and liquidity.
This concept is pretty interesting. If it really works, what’s the second-order effect?
Protocol-level trading strategies might emerge.
Right now, most DeFi strategies are more about 'capital strategies' (farming, borrowing, lending). In the future, we might see truly complex execution strategies because execution quality will improve.
New composability. Your yield farm + their options protocol + some CEX’s quant strategy might automatically link up and execute through a single contract.
CEX liquidity might get partially siphoned off into protocols. This could be a double-edged sword for CEXs—more entry points, but it might weaken their front-end advantage.
But the entry point for this issue—the divide between DeFi and CEX—is a real one. It’s worth keeping an eye on to see if it can evolve into infrastructure.
