[Trump 'faces off' with Anthropic as the U.S. drafts strict new civilian AI guidelines]
Odaily Planet Daily News: Amid the Trump administration's standoff with Anthropic, strict rules have been drafted for civilian artificial intelligence contracts, requiring AI companies to allow 'any lawful use' of their models. The new government guideline draft stipulates that AI companies wishing to do business with the government must grant the U.S. an irrevocable license enabling the use of their systems for all lawful purposes. These guidelines from the U.S. General Services Administration will apply to civilian contracts and are part of a broader effort to strengthen AI service procurement across the government. A source familiar with the matter stated that these guidelines are, in principle, similar to measures being considered by the U.S. Department of Defense for military contracts. (Financial Times)
