The investigation revealed that the police had not stored the assets in officially regulated hardware wallets at the time but had instead used cold wallets provided by the foundation. This allowed the suspects to exploit the mnemonic phrases and illegally transfer the assets through information communication networks. Currently, the 22 bitcoins, valued at approximately $1.5 million, have not been recovered. Additionally, the former police officer in charge of the case was sentenced to 18 months in prison in August 2024 for accepting bribes from the foundation.
