[ING: Euro's Strength Unlikely to Change Lagarde's Stance on Exchange Rate, But Market Hasn't Priced in ECB Verbal Intervention Risk] Jin10 News, February 2 – Francesco Pesole of ING stated in a report that the recent strength of the euro is unlikely to be sufficient to prompt European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde to change her stance on exchange rates at Thursday's meeting. Lagarde has repeatedly emphasized that the ECB does not target exchange rates but will monitor euro movements due to their impact on inflation. Pesole pointed out that the euro's recent decline against the dollar to below 1.20 may have alleviated policymakers' concerns. However, the market has not currently priced in the risk of the ECB expressing dissatisfaction verbally. Therefore, if the ECB does indeed emphasize concerns about the euro's strength, the euro may weaken.
