Are crypto holders becoming high-risk targets? Recently, another robbery targeting crypto holders has occurred. A man in San Francisco was robbed at gunpoint by thieves pretending to be delivery workers on a weekend morning. The suspects brandished a firearm, tied up the victim with tape, and stole $11 million worth of cryptocurrency. According to police records, the robbers forced the victim to hand over the private keys to his wallet and also took his laptop and phone used for interacting with applications. Just a week before this incident, Thai police arrested one Korean and three Thai suspects for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a Chinese victim, stealing over $10,000 in cash and cryptocurrency. Robberies targeting crypto holders are now happening globally at an average rate of once per week—and that’s just the publicly reported cases.
