The moment I saw the cloud bill last night, I started doubting if I forgot to turn off some task again.
AI preprocessing cost me triple digits in USD—my mindset was instantly shattered. Just as I was about to cut down the frequency of S3 usage, my partner sent over the official announcement from Acurast and @irys_xyz.
At first, I was complaining, “Here comes another combo,” but the more I looked into it, the more hooked I got: if they can really run both data and computation in a verifiable closed loop, this cloud bill nightmare might finally have a solution.
In simple terms, this is a closed loop of “TEE verification + programmable data”: Acurast uses distributed, verifiable edge computing to run tasks (covering 140+ countries and 146k+ devices), while Irys anchors the results onto rule-based data—ownership, access, settlement, and triggers are all on-chain. The entire pipeline for AI/DePIN is end-to-end traceable and auditable. What excites engineers the most is that data is no longer just dormant files but becomes executable assets.
How to implement it? I’ve outlined three steps:
① Clean/label/embed the data and run it on Acurast, backed by TEE proofs;
② Write the samples and results into Irys’s Submit→Publish multi-ledger system, choose storage duration, and let event hooks drive settlements;
③ Expose only a “data API” externally, share revenue based on calls, and let the data itself generate income.
This isn’t just “adding another tool”; it’s about changing the cost structure: turning expensive cloud scripts into verifiable computation and transforming easily lost data into programmable assets.
Engineers think: it’d be better if the mainnet is ready, but even if it’s not, we should set up the pipeline first. That way, when the next bill hits, our hearts won’t skip a beat.
