On December 1, 2025, the OpenAGI Foundation released the Lux model, the first open-source foundational model specifically designed for computer use. It enables AI to operate software interfaces like humans and excels in 300 real-world task benchmarks.
Lux scored 83.6% on the Online-Mind2Web benchmark, outperforming Google Gemini CUA (69.0%), OpenAI Operator (61.3%), and Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4 (61.0%). It offers three modes—Tasker, Actor, and Thinker—to adapt to varying task complexities.
The release is accompanied by the open-sourcing of the OSGym data engine. Lux will be fully open-sourced in early 2026, allowing developers to quickly build automated applications via SDKs, such as software QA and e-commerce management. However, attention to security sandbox issues is required for actual deployment.
