Unlike the main verification of asset reserve sufficiency which is the Proof of Reserves (PoR), PoSEC focuses on the security of fund storage. By disclosing the asset distribution of cold storage and hot wallets on the public platform, it demonstrates the fund storage structure and risk coverage ability in extreme situations.
PoSEC introduces the cold storage coverage rate as a core indicator to measure the extent of cold storage covering all user funds. When the coverage rate ≥ 100%, it means that according to the corresponding statistical caliber, even if the assets in the hot wallet are completely lost, the cold storage can still cover all user funds. PoR and PoSEC complement each other, expanding the validation of fund security from reserve sufficiency to storage safety and risk coverage, providing users with more comprehensive and transparent fund security information.
Cold storage coverage rate reaches 104.58%, storage structure is open and transparent
As of November 4, 2026, 08:00 (UTC+8), the cold storage coverage rate of Gate reached 104.58%, with cold storage and hot wallet assets accounting for 88.26% and 11.74% respectively. Among them, cold storage includes digitally stored assets offline and traditionally custodial assets that must meet conditions such as not directly participating in daily deposits and withdrawals, being offline or independently custodial, multi-party authorized transfers, and verifiable conditions.
Currently, the data for this period is being verified by an independent third-party auditing agency, covering the authenticity and control of assets, valuation and statistical caliber, coverage rate calculation, etc. The audit report will be published on the official website after completion to enhance the transparency and credibility of fund security information.
From PoR to PoSEC, continuously strengthening the digital asset security system
