[Aero Announces Merger Terms for Aerodrome and Velodrome, Launching October 21] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on October 10, Aero announced the token swap terms and timeline for the merger of Aerodrome and Velodrome. The merger will commence on October 21 at 8:00 PM (ET), at which point token emissions from both legacy platforms will cease. Existing AERO tokens will be swapped at a 1:1 ratio for the new AERO tokens, while each VELO token will be exchanged for approximately 0.044 AERO tokens. This ratio applies to both circulating tokens and locked tokens. The VELO exchange ratio will depend on the supply at the time of the merger, with Aerodrome holders allocated 94.5% of the new supply and Velodrome holders allocated 5.5%. According to DefiLlama data, as of October 9, the combined total value locked (TVL) of the two platforms was approximately $422 million. The merger was initially announced in November 2025, with the developer, Dromos Labs, originally planning to complete it by Q2 2026. The new model will replace the previous weekly voting cycle with real-time allocation. Holders of staked AERO (sAERO) will be able to direct rewards directly to liquidity pools and accumulate earnings from exchange revenues. A 47-hour cooldown period will be implemented during the initial phase of allocation adjustments. Existing veAERO and veVELO positions will be converted into new sAERO positions, with the remaining lock-up time rounded up to the nearest full week. Permanent locks will be converted into the maximum staking duration. Tokens will not be automatically swapped; self-custodied assets must be upgraded via the portals on aerodrome.finance or velodrome.finance. Users must first claim rewards, rebase, and clear active votes before proceeding.
