[Former Bank of England Deputy Governor Joins Blockchain Payment Company Fnality] According to a report by Bloomberg on September 10, former Bank of England Deputy Governor Jon Cunliffe has joined blockchain payment company Fnality as the Chair of the Board for its UK entity. Former Director of Payment and Settlement Systems at the Deutsche Bundesbank, Jochen Metzger, has been appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of Fnality Europe (its German business unit) and is expected to serve as the Chair of the Supervisory Board. Ron Berndsen, who previously served as the Head of Supervision and Market Infrastructure Policy at the Dutch Central Bank, will also join the Supervisory Board of Fnality Europe. London-based Fnality operates a wholesale payment system that allows banks to settle debts using central bank monetary balances. Its pound sterling payment system, regulated by the Bank of England, was launched in 2023. The company is working to obtain regulatory approval to launch versions for U.S. dollar and euro payments.
