Nonsense. In fact, the article itself concedes that miners - pay more than Brazil does - switch off in minutes when the grid tightens - had nothing to do with the unexplained 14% residential surge in power use. The article also omits the fact the Bitcoin miners were using surplus energy, that would otherwise have been ceded to Brazil at a lower price Finally, a capacity crisis is a peak-power problem. Bitcoin mining is interruptible load. Interruptible load by definition does not cause peak-power problems because it can be, well, interrupted at any time to stabilize the grid. Do better @ABCDigital. And same goes for @pluang_id and @GrafaCrypto who ran their versions of the article without fact-checking the claims.(Daniel Batten)
