[South Korea Plans to Raise the Trading Threshold for Single-Stock Leveraged ETFs in September, Minimum Trading Unit to Increase to 20 Shares]
BlockBeats reports that on August 12, the Korea Exchange (KRX) has drafted amendments to the 'Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Securities Market Business Regulations,' proposing to raise the minimum trading unit for single-stock leveraged ETFs from the current 1 share to 20 shares, and for ETNs from 1 security to 20 securities. The proposal is currently open for market feedback. It is reported that South Korea's financial regulatory authorities initially planned to implement this measure in November, but due to the rising speculative trading of single-stock leveraged products, they aim to cool down the market earlier, with the exchange pushing for implementation as early as next month. In addition to increasing the trading unit, South Korean regulators will also strengthen investor protection measures. New individual investors entering the market will be required to complete at least 5 trading days, with 1 hour per day, totaling 5 hours of simulated trading before participating in single-stock leveraged product trading.
