[U.S. Military Fires on Commercial Vessel in Gulf of Oman]
According to Golden Finance, on July 25, the U.S. Central Command stated on July 24 local time that it fired on a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman, rendering it unable to navigate. The vessel had attempted at least four times to breach the U.S. blockade targeting Iranian ports. The U.S. military claimed it had issued warnings to the vessel's crew, but they failed to comply with instructions, prompting the U.S. military to fire at the ship's engine room. This marks the second commercial vessel hit since the U.S. resumed its maritime blockade against Iran. The U.S. Central Command also stated that 12 other vessels have been forced to alter their course.
