Both parties can still appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court. Reports indicate that since Chey Tae-won filed for divorce mediation in 2017, legal disputes between the two have continued to this day. In the first trial in December 2022, the court ordered Chey Tae-won to pay ₩100 million in compensation for emotional distress and ₩66.5 billion in property division. In the second trial in May 2024, the court ordered Chey Tae-won to pay ₩2 billion in compensation for emotional distress and divide ₩1.3808 trillion in assets.
