[U.S. Senator Lummis: Ethical Provisions in the Crypto 'Clarity Act' Will Undergo Further Discussion]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 23, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (one of the key negotiators of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, also known as the Clarity Act) stated that although the text of the bill has been released and is now 'one step closer' to formal passage, several core provisions may still be subject to changes, including clauses on ethical standards for government officials.
In an interview with CoinDesk on Wednesday, Lummis said that the Senate Judiciary Committee, Ethics Committee, and Intelligence Committee were all involved in drafting the bill. While the entire legislative process has been 'very challenging,' the bill is now ready to receive further feedback. She remarked, 'It’s time to show everyone the complete bill that we will eventually vote on and hear feedback from the industry that will soon be regulated, as well as other stakeholders. I’m thrilled we’ve finally reached this stage.'
Earlier that day, Lummis released the latest version of the Clarity Act, which consolidates the bills previously passed by the Senate Banking Committee and Agriculture Committee into a single comprehensive text. However, she also noted that the version released this time is still unlikely to be the final version. Additionally, provisions in the bill regarding conflict-of-interest restrictions (ethical provisions) for government officials participating in crypto asset activities, as well as certain measures to combat illicit financial activities, are expected to undergo further discussion and revision over the weekend.
