[Analyst: AI Trades in Parts of Asia Shifting from Leading Gains to Liquidation]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 8, Tickmill Group analyst Patrick Munnelly stated that in parts of Asia, AI trades have shifted from leading gains to liquidation. South Korea's stock market extended its decline on Wednesday, dragging the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) into bear market territory. Munnelly noted that after a historic rally, investors continue to sell off crowded semiconductor positions. While investors are attempting to distinguish the broader AI narrative from semiconductor liquidations, this may become increasingly challenging in the future. He added that the market is grappling with multiple pressures, including geopolitical supply shocks, overextended tech stock positions, and stubborn inflation expectations.
