[In the First Half of the Year, Global Crypto ATM Numbers Plunge by 27.7%, with 96% of Shutdowns Concentrated in the U.S.]
According to Bits.media, the number of cryptocurrency ATMs worldwide dropped sharply from 39,158 at the beginning of 2026 to 28,322 in the first half of the year, a decrease of 10,836 units, representing a 27.7% decline. Of this, the U.S. accounted for approximately 96% of the reduction, with numbers falling from 30,617 to 20,237, a 33.9% decrease. Canada saw a reduction of 57 units to 3,603, Europe decreased by 102 units to 1,658, and Australia dropped by 11% to 1,758 units. The U.S. remains the largest crypto ATM market globally, accounting for 71.5% of active devices. Finbold, citing expert analysis, stated that the decline is not due to reduced demand but rather a contraction of infrastructure by operators in response to market volatility and tightened regulations.
