A friend told me: In a bear market, don’t try to guess the bottom; in a bull market, don’t try to guess the top. That’s the basic respect traders should have for the market. But what I want to say is: Top professional traders must be skilled at predicting the major bottom of a bear market and accurately forecasting the top of a bull market! A trader who lacks both the professional ability and the courage to predict the bottom of a bear market and the top of a bull market is far from being an excellent trader! We don’t need to respect the market; we need to revere the market and follow its rules.
