[Missouri Sues Crypto ATM Operator CoinFlip for 'Facilitating Fraud']
According to Cointelegraph, Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has filed a lawsuit against crypto ATM operator CoinFlip, accusing it of 'intentionally facilitating fraudulent transactions and profiting from them.' The lawsuit alleges that these fraudulent activities targeted the state's 'elderly and veterans,' and seeks a court declaration that CoinFlip violated the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, a ban on its operations in Missouri, and a fine of $1,000 for each violation over the past five years, totaling up to $1.826 million. It also demands compensation for consumers. CoinFlip operates 136 crypto machines in Missouri and 4,229 machines nationwide. Previously, Bitcoin Depot filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to lawsuits and regulatory pressures.
