[Russian State Oil Company Gazprom Requires Subsidiaries to Open Digital Ruble Accounts]
According to Bits.media, the Russian state-owned enterprise Gazprom has mandated its 17 subsidiaries to open digital ruble accounts with the Central Bank of Russia. The company stated that this move is in preparation for compliance with legislation set to take effect on September 1, which requires legal entities to be capable of accepting digital rubles as a payment method for goods and services. Testing of the Russian digital ruble began in August 2023, and by the end of 2025, over 130 corporate accounts are expected to participate in the platform's testing. Starting September 1, major Russian banks and large enterprises must provide digital ruble transaction capabilities to their customers.
