I still couldn’t quite refine the hook stroke of the character I was working on yesterday. How can I make the final stroke smoother in the future?
So, I went to the West Lake to look at the characters carved into stone. Although this semi-cursive script can’t serve as the main reference for font strokes, the short, sharp, hand-carved feel of the knife cuts, along with the control of grayscale and thickness on the stone, creates a clarity that’s easy to read in any weather. I picked up some really useful techniques from this.
